E-Recycling Kauai

What are Covered
Electronic Devices?
Or why can't the County recycle all electronic?
Covered Electronic Device are classified as hazardous waste when it no
longer works as
designed by the original manufactory. Covered Electronic Devices are
hazardous waste
because the EPA says they are, because of the lead in the solder joints.
There are other newer
heavy metal in the making of all our tech toys that cell phone OK Smart Phone.
That is why
the
County should not be dumping any electronic equipment into the Kekaha Landhump
(like
I
said that's a "fill" like the moon is "green cheese").
A solution from us go to link:
Doing electronic recycle the right way!
The state body that
enforces the handling of hazardous waste is
the Department of Health and in 2008 SB 2843 was passed you should look
it up.
In
SB 2843 you will find the term "covered
electronic devices" and this will cover 1. computers 2. monitors 3,televisions
LCD
Plasma 4. laptops
5 printers.
There are 42 manufactures they all pay to the state a fee that lets each
manufacture sell there equipment here in Hawaii.
As the customer you who purchased the electronic equipment at a store here on
Kauai. Now you must email or call the OEM get a
shipping
label, print it and within 10 days take the "boxed" and properly protected
electronic equipment down to the delivery company (UPS,
FedEx,
etc...). You as the customer that purchased the OEM electronic equipment
must on your own time drive to Lihue to send out the
package
and you better call the shipper, because they have strange hours. So
from now on you better save the OEM's original shipping box
other wise you
got to go find a new box to ship that electronic equipment you purchased here
on the island of Kauai.
Well I will donate me old computer that will go over like a lead balloon.
Older P-4 1.5 to 2.0 have no value and if you have less then 1 Gbit of
memory there is that lead balloon again. LCD that are 15 to 17 inches
has no value.
Please go to the Toshiba or Levono with the information below try to recycle a
use a LCD 15 inches and LCD 21 inches see for yourself.
Try to get a value for a P4 at 2.8GHz 2GB of memory 150Gb of hard drive a
15inch LCD and see what you get back
your electronic equipment that you purchased here on Kauai has what
value?
After 2.5 hours this is what
I received for my effort. An honest and good way to recycle your old
CEDs?
What is your time worth? if you make $20.00 an hour you have just lost $50.00
of your valuable time.
